Taft, Wenzel, Bolton, Noe, and Rove. What do all those men have in common? Highly respected government officials? No. Corrupt conservatives of course! The Republican party, especially here in Ohio, is getting beat to a pulp by scandal after scandal. Every day since the beginning of May there has been a Toledo Blade front page headline about one the conservative scandals.

I hate to see millions of hard working tax payer dollars wasted and the image of politicians further tarnished. But the one-party rule in Ohio, and the country for that matter, has to come to an end. I'd like to win elections based on the value of liberal and progressive ideas, but as long as the conservatives continue to prevent the honest discussion of issues, I'm happy to take advantage of the conservatives own misadventures into corruption.

Looking forward to my personal choices for 2006: Rep. Ted Strickland for Ohio Governor, Rep. Sherrod Brown to take on DeWine, State Sen. Mark Dann for Auditor, and Julia Bates for Attorney General. Despite being out of power for over a decade in Ohio, the Democrats have a strong bench of candidates to choose from. Also, now that it looks promising that the Reform Ohio Now amendments will make it to the ballot this November, there's a good chance to make strong gains in the Ohio Senate and House, as well as the Congressional delegation, in 2008. All laying the groundwork to deliver Ohio to the 2008 Democratic nominee for President. (My tentative choice at this early stage would be a Clinton-Richardson ticket.)
